A recruiter point of view

The recruiting bussiness is brutal, is almost like Game of Thrones, but instead of fight over an ugly chair we battle over the best profiles.I know how hard can it be to find a job, so, I wan to to share with you the best tips for interviews to land the job of your dreams.

1) Information is the key, search the web for details on the company you are applying for or being contacted from, to make sure the company is legit and know more about what they do. That way you can ask the puntual questions and not get lost in the general information about the company.

2) It's important to talk about cash and benefits during the first contact, so you and the recruiter can be sure if the company can meet your expectations. Usually the recruiter will bring the subject to the table, if she/he doesn´t make sure you do, so nobody gets disapointed at the end of the process.

3) Make sure you understand all the instructions you received for the tests and interviews this way your chances to make it to the next round will improve.

4) Avoid to cancel an interview unless you don´t other option, also deliver documents or answer tests the day you promise, if you cannot do it, please call or send an email, this will show you care and will no leave a bad impresion on the recruiter, we will answer your email as soon as posible with a proper follow up.

Attention: If the interview requires to use skype or google hangouts make a quick test before the actual interview to avoid any issues.

5) Dress code is important, you don't need to show up with a toxido or full party dress, clean clothes and shoes are basic, stay away from neon colors, a good pair of jeans and a clean T-shirt will go a long way and this outfit flattering in both women and men.

6)  Be polite always, we have experience dealing with different tipes of people, but saying thank you goes a long way, we will be proffesional and polite even if you are not, it is part of our job.

7) Honesty is really important don't hide things, eventually we will find out.

8) Ask anything you want to know, better now than later, our job is to make sure you hace all the information you need to make the best decision.

9) Send us an email asking how the selection process is going, that way we will have you in mind and can answer as soon as posible, we often handle more than 5 openings at one time and we have at least 10 candidates per opening, so you do the math. It takes time to keep track of everyone if you send as an email it makes the task a lot easier.

10) The most important thing when you are looking for a job is to find reliable job openings. OCC, Computrabajo, Linkedin and universities job boards, many companies use them to have access to a wider selection of professionals
